What Sage keeps, and who sees it
What Sage is. An AI study helper for Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert subjects. It asks questions and gives hints so you work things out. It is an AI, not a teacher, and it can be wrong.
What Sage keeps. An email address, a first name, an age group (not a date of birth), the questions typed, any homework photos sent, and progress. No ID documents. No ads, and Sage never sells anyone's information.
Who else handles it. Questions and photos are sent to Sage's AI provider (Anthropic) to write each reply. Its published policy is to delete API inputs and outputs within 30 days, but it may keep items flagged by its own safety checks for longer. Payments are handled by Stripe.
Safety. No one else is told about anything typed. If a message suggests someone may be at risk, Sage shows support numbers straight away (Childline 1800 66 66 66, text 50808, emergencies 112 or 999), and a trained person at Sage may read that one message to decide whether help is needed. Sage is not watched around the clock and is not an emergency service.
